Infrared radiation (IR) accounts for over 50% of our solar radiation. IR-A penetrates deep into the skin, where it causes an increase in temperature and can negatively affect the skin’s physiology (IR ageing). To protect against IR-induced stress, we use a highly effective deep-sea active ingredient. Using fermentation, this is biotechnologically obtained from marine micro-organisms that live near hydrothermal springs on the deep-sea floor and therefore have to be able to withstand extreme conditions. The key here is that the biomimetic enzymes contained in the infrared-A protection are heat stable and thermoactive – so when the temperature rises, the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties increase in proportion.
